Chapter 130

“You?” Mona’s voice was sharp. “My father is critically ill. There can be no more mistakes!”

Emma replied calmly, “Don’t worry, I understand medicine.”

Mona’s disdain was evident, though unspoken. She’d heard of Emma, dismissing her as a young woman relying on her connections to Liam and the Rivera family. This fueled her increasingly harsh tone. “I’m his daughter. If I say no, it means no!”

Emma, mirroring Mona’s lack of politeness, remained composed. “But this inaction will kill Mr. Quinn.”

Mona exploded. “Someone, get her out of here!”

Liam stepped in front of Emma. “No one touches her.”

A tense stalemate ensued. Marsh intervened, attempting to de-escalate the situation. “Mona, Mr. Hall and Miss Wilson are here out of goodwill. Don’t act impulsively!”

Mona gritted her teeth, but she always heeded Marsh. She merely snorted.

Marsh's declaration, “I believe in Emma,” offered her a measure of comfort. He trusted her based on his observations of her capabilities. He sensed her talent and believed she could save their father.

“Dr. Bates, is there truly no other option for my father?” Marsh asked.

The doctor nodded grimly. “His chances of waking are only twenty percent. If Miss Wilson has any ideas, I suggest we let her try. However, Miss Wilson, do you possess a practice license?”

All eyes turned to Emma. The unspoken question hung in the air: Does this young woman even have the necessary experience? The answer, unfortunately, was no.

“I don’t,” Emma admitted. Mona’s exasperation was immediate. “You lack a medical license and yet you dare attempt to treat my father! This is deliberate harm!”

Marsh’s tone deepened. “Mona,” he said sternly.

Even Liam’s expression darkened. “Emma has no reason to harm your father. If you don't want our help, we'll leave.”

Emma, understanding Liam’s support, decided to act. Leroy's kindness during summer camp weighed heavily on her. She wouldn't abandon him because of Mona's antagonism. “While I lack the certificate you mentioned, I have this.” She produced a badge.

The skeptics fell silent. Calvin examined the badge intently before exclaiming, “This is… the Holy Orchid Hero Emblem?”

For medical professionals, the Holy Series badges held immense international prestige. The series comprised the Holy Orchid, Holy Purity, and the supremely rare Holy Grail. Only three Grail badges existed, one belonging to the miracle doctor Liam and Levi sought. Emma, at twenty, possessed a Holy Series badge—an unprecedented achievement.

“This… this badge… why is it in your hands?” Mona, despite not being a practicing physician, recognized the badge instantly.

“This is my badge!” Emma declared, displaying it clearly. Everyone examined it; the exquisite carving bore her likeness. She’d possessed the Holy Orchid Emblem for years, neglecting it due to its lower tier. The urgency of Leroy’s situation prompted her to bring it. Usually, it sufficed for such situations. Her true identity, Grail, remained undisclosed, the Grail badge safely secured in a world-renowned vault.

Liam’s expression shifted subtly. Levi exchanged a knowing glance with him. Does this mean Mrs. Wilson is Grail? he wondered. Liam recalled Emma's earlier promise to heal his legs, prompting the thought, How much of her past is still unknown to me?

Gates' demeanor changed completely. "So, you are a giant in the medical field! We were incredibly rude just now!"

Emma smiled, her badge still in hand. “So, may I now treat your father? Is the qualification certificate still required?”

Mona's rebuttal was weak and tinged with defensiveness. “So what? Maybe… maybe your badge is fake!”

Calvin paled at her words. Did Miss Hanson even pay attention in medical school? he thought. The Holy Series badges have patented technology and official certification. No one could forge them, let alone afford to.

Though Marsh lacked medical knowledge, he grasped Emma's exceptional status thanks to Calvin's statement. He sternly addressed Mona. “Mona, cease your prejudice against Miss Wilson! Father's illness cannot wait!” He then turned to Emma with sincerity. “Miss Wilson, please forgive my sister. My father's life is in your hands!”

Emma exchanged a look with Liam, his unwavering gaze conveying his support and trust. He'd shoulder any consequences.

Taking his hand, Emma reassured Marsh. “Mr. Hanson, you’re too kind. I’m indebted to you and Mr. Quinn. I’ll do my utmost to save him.”

Mona, outmatched by Marsh, fell silent.

Emma began her treatment, everyone else dismissed. She studied Leroy's records, her mind processing data effortlessly. Calvin's diagnosis was correct: cardiovascular disease. However, a blood clot on his brain explained his unconsciousness. Years of relentless work had taken their toll. Emma prioritized restoring consciousness, leaving long-term recovery for later.

With steady hands, she administered a potion. Half an hour later, the door opened. Marsh and Mona waited anxiously.

Seeing Emma emerge, exhausted but resolute, Marsh rushed to her side. “How is he? Is my father well?”

Emma nodded. “Mr. Quinn is awake.”

Mona’s shock was palpable. How is this possible? Dr. Bates, a world-renowned physician, gave only a twenty percent chance, yet Emma revived him in half an hour?

“Emma, what method did you use? Were there any side effects?” Mona persisted, though her skepticism felt foolish, even to her. Her medical student background made her question embarrassingly naive in Emma’s eyes.

Emma countered, “If you doubt me, examine him yourself. And, as a medical student, not a doctor, I doubt you can even interpret a physical examination form.”
