Bonnie glanced at Yvette, feeling sorry for Ben. She thought, Why did he mention the Chambers family? If Mr. Chambers really knew this guy, he might infuriate Yvette!
Yvette raised an eyebrow, tilting her head as her intense gaze settled on Ben and Janice. A sly smile crept onto her face. โYouโre saying you know Zachary Chambers, and he has your back?โ
Ben was momentarily stunned, but quickly regained his composure and nodded, attempting to look confident. โWell, you seem to have some sense, knowing Seacrityโs top family and Mr. Chambers. Yes, thatโs him. Weโre close. If I call him, heโll definitely send someone to teach you a lesson. So, apologize and hang out with me for a few days, and maybe Iโll let you go.โ
Benโs eyes lingered on Yvette, clearly more captivated by her than his threat. Janice was attractive, but compared to Yvette, she was insignificant. Given a choice, heโd pick Yvette.
Janice had no idea what Ben was thinking. She believed he was genuinely defending her. Although unfamiliar with โMr. Chambers,โ she sensed his power and wealth from Benโs tone.
Feeling smug, Janice sneered at Yvette. โMy man and Mr. Chambers are as close as family. Offending us means offending him. If you donโt listen, weโll kick you out of Seacrity.โ
Bonnie watched their theatrics, feeling disgusted. Do they have any clue about the relationship between the almighty Zachary and Yvette? And theyโre boasting like fools. What a joke. Watching Janiceโs arrogance, Bonnie knew their sisterhood was over.
Unfazed, Yvette sat calmly on the couch, her sharp gaze unwavering. She casually played with her phone, exuding fearless confidence, a picture of defiance. She looked every bit the boss.
Meeting their gaze, a hint of malice in her eyes, Yvette smiled casually. โSince you know Zachary, Iโll give you a chance. Call him. The head of Seacrityโs first family must be impressive, right?โ
Ben froze. Is she crazy? He had only shared a few meals with Zachary; their relationship was nothing special. He never expected anyone to believe the Chambers family would intervene. Heโd used it to intimidate Yvette, but now he was unsure how to respond.
After a long pause, Ben stammered, but no words came out. Even Janice noticed something was amiss.
She pulled Ben aside, whispering urgently, โWhatโs wrong? Yvetteโs challenging you. Call Mr. Chambers, or weโll be the laughingstock! Please, call him now!โ
Ben couldn't tell her the truth without humiliating himself; he couldn't actually contact Zachary. As he struggled, Yvetteโs phone rang.
A sigh of relief escaped Ben as their eyes fixed on Yvetteโs phone. She said "Zachary" and answered, showing no surprise.
โWhere are you, Yvette? Coming home for dinner?โ Zacharyโs warm voice filled the room.
Yvette glanced at Ben. With a slight lift of her eyebrows, she replied calmly, โIโm at Starlight Plaza.โ
Zacharyโs excited voice cut in. โStarlight Plaza? What a coincidence! Iโm inspecting stores. Which floor? Iโll be up in a few minutes.โ Starlight Plaza was part of the Chambers Group, and Zachary's unexpected visit to check on the business led to this encounter.
Yvette raised an eyebrow, her expression indifferent. โFifth floor.โ
โIโll be there in fifteen minutes,โ Zachary replied.
After ending the call, Bonnie cautiously asked, โWas that Mr. Chambers, Yvette?โ
Yvette nodded slightly, pursing her lips. โYes.โ
Ben and Janice, who had overheard, immediately tensed. Janiceโs smug expression shifted to incredulity as she laughed sarcastically. โWait, Bonnie, youโre not talking about Zachary, head of the Chambers family? Thatโs impossible! Donโt think you and Yvette can get away with this. Yvette broke my boyfriendโs teeth, and we wonโt let her go.โ
Bonnie nodded seriously. โYes, the head of the Chambers family, Mr. Zachary Chambers. Heโsโฆโ
Benโs loud laughter cut her off. โYou two have no idea who Zachary is! Heโs a prominent figure in Seacrity, someone you canโt just casually call or meet. Donโt think you can fool me with a phone call. If you refuse to apologize, neither of you are leaving. Get down on your knees and apologize now!โ
Janice agreed. โExactly, Yvetteโs surname is Zeller and Zacharyโs is Chambers. Educate yourselves before you lie! This is ridiculous!โ
Yvette slowly stood, glancing at her watch. Zachary would arrive in ten minutes โ just enough time. She turned to Bonnie and whispered, โClose the door.โ
Bonnie glanced at Janice and Ben, knowing the consequences of crossing Yvette. No one was exempt, not even her sister.
Bonnie locked the door remotely, leaving only the four of them inside.
Janice and Ben froze, confused. Why is she shutting the door?
Janice, panicked, shouted, โWhat are you doing, Yvette? Open the door!โ
Ben, clutching his injured mouth, trembled. His legs still throbbed from Yvetteโs kick.
Yvette raised an eyebrow, her expression sly and dangerous. Her gaze was sharp, her voice cold. โWhy did we shut the door? To lock you in, of course. Itโs time for you to face the consequences.โ
Janice and Ben stiffened. Lock us in? Oh no, this is serious.
Janice hid behind Ben, her face filled with fear. โDonโtโฆ come any closer!โ
Ben pulled Janice from behind him.
