Nathan was also stunned. It felt as though he were meeting Sienna for the first time. Sienna had always been well-behaved around him, which had given him confidence in his ability to manage her. This Sienna, however, was unlike anything he'd ever encountered.
After Sienna finished speaking, she felt considerably more at ease. She quickly turned to Yvette.
โYve, Iโm finished. Can we leave now?โ Sienna asked.
Yvette uncrossed her legs and pursed her lips, her dark, cool eyes and refined features betraying no emotion. She subtly raised her chin. Glancing at the visibly shaken Sienna, Yvette nodded, stood, and then looked at Nathan and Damian Goodman.
Her voice was calm yet possessed an undeniable authority. โListen carefully,โ she said to Nathan. โFrom now on, you have nothing to do with Sienna. Understand?โ
Nathan, unwilling to surrender, stood excitedly, about to protest. But before he could speak, Damian interjected, glaring at Sienna. His voice dripped with venom.
โSince Ms. Sterling has made her choice,โ Damian said, โthe Goodman men certainly arenโt lacking for women. I expect you to terminate the pregnancy by tomorrow. The Goodman bloodline will not be diluted.โ
Damian then looked at Yvette, who stood nonchalantly with her hands in her pockets. His tone softened slightly. โNathan and Sienna have broken up. Rest assured, Nathan will not be bothering Sienna any further. This matter is settled.โ
Yvette led Sienna away without looking back.
Left in the room were Damian, Nathan, and Tyson, who had silently observed the entire exchange. Nathanโs face remained impassive. After a few seconds of silence, he still felt the urge to leave. Just as he began to move, Damian, anticipating his intent, slapped him hard.
The slap resounded loudly; its force was considerable. Nathanโs head snapped to the side, his cheek instantly swelling and reddening. Caught off guard, he looked up angrily. But when his eyes met Damianโs cold gaze, he stopped abruptly.
Quickly concealing his anger, his demeanor weakened, and he spoke with deep reluctance. โGrandpa, I donโt want to let her go. I love Sienna.โ
Damianโs face was cold and indifferent as he scolded Nathan. โSheโs merely a woman. There are plenty of others. Canโt you see the situation? Yvette is losing patience, and if you continue this, you wonโt live to see tomorrow. Iโm telling you, if you persist in bothering Sienna, the Goodman family doesn't need someone so emotionally volatile. Someone else can take over the family business. Several of your fatherโs other children are waiting in line.โ
Nathan shivered at the chilling threat. In my grandfatherโs eyes, I am merely a replaceable grandson. Only Braydon truly matters to him, he thought.
Nathan endured the pain. Compared to the Goodman family business, he realized he must sacrifice his love. He had to let Sienna go. He respectfully bowed his head. โI understand, Grandpa. I wonโt seek Sienna again,โ he said humbly.
Nathan despised Yvette. Without her, Sienna wouldnโt have dared to treat me this way, he thought. Then, a change in his expression revealed a shift in his thinking. โGrandpa,โ he continued, โsince Yvetteโs here, why not justโฆ finish it?โ He made a slicing motion across his neck.
Damian remained silent, observing Nathanโs face, now filled with hatred and ambition. He turned to Tyson, who had stood unobtrusively to the side.
โHow advanced is her martial arts training now?โ Damian asked.
Tyson lifted his head, his expression serious. โShe could defeat me in ten moves,โ he said softly. โA thousand would pose no challenge, nor would ten thousand.โ
Nathanโs face went white. Is that even humanly possible? he thought. He recalled Yvetteโs audacious escape through a crowd of thousands as a teenager, a memory that sent shivers down his spine.
Damian wasnโt surprised. He gave Nathanโs pale face a cold look. โYouโre being foolish,โ he said, his voice devoid of warmth. โIf you know whatโs good for you, donโt provoke Yvette further, or no one can protect you.โ
Nathan struggled briefly before surrendering, lowering his head in resignation. โI understand, Grandpa. Sienna and I are finished,โ he said.
Meanwhile, as Yvette and Sienna left Royal Phoenix, a stylish woman in a managerโs suit hurried to catch up with them. Without speaking, she bowed deeply to Yvette and presented a black card with both hands.
โMs. Zeller,โ the manager said, โthis is a gift from our clubโs general managerโthe sole remaining card in all of Mysonna. Whenever you visit the club, everything is complimentary.โ
Yvette nodded impassively. She glanced at the card, then casually slipped it into her pocket. This nonchalant gesture caused the managerโs lips to twitch involuntarily. Who is this woman? the manager thought. Everyone from Mysonnaโs executives to celebrities desires this card, and she casually pockets it as though it were nothing. Her worldview had been shattered twice that day: first, seeing Yvette arrive at the Goodman banquet by bus, and now this. This world has gone mad, she thought.
The manager, with a respectful smile, escorted Sienna and Yvette out of Royal Phoenix. Sienna was utterly bewildered by the black card.
Bruce had been waiting in the car. Seeing Yvette and Sienna emerge, he promptly opened the car door.
โYve,โ he called out, then glanced at Sienna. Seeing she was unharmed, he said nothing further. With Yvette present, his worries were unnecessary.
Yvette nodded to Bruce. The three of them got into the car. Yvette settled comfortably in the back seat, adjusted her black baseball cap, and half-closed her eyes. She picked up her phone and resumed playing Super Mario.
Bruce, driving, paused slightly at the sound of the familiar game. Sienna had grown accustomed to it; Yvette had done the same thing in front of Nathan and Damian. Sheโs even crazier than usual, Sienna thought.
Bruce hesitated. He didnโt know what had transpired at Royal Phoenix, and wondered if the situation was resolved. Glancing at Sienna, he asked, โIs everything settled?โ
Sienna replied happily, โYve handled it. Sheโs worth two peopleโno, eight! Everything seems resolved. Nathanโs grandpa promised Nathan wouldnโt bother me again, butโฆโ
Bruce adjusted his glasses. Damian personally promised? That sounds too good to be true, he thought. He knew Sienna alone couldnโt have made Damian back down. Only one conclusion remained: The person Damian yielded to is someone else. And who is that? The answer is obvious. What other identity does Yvette possess? How many people in Mysonna could make Damian capitulate like this?
โBut what?โ Bruce asked.
Siennaโs voice softened; she seemed deflated. โBut the Goodman family told me to terminate this pregnancy, and I agreed. This child was conceived through manipulation, so perhaps it shouldnโt be born. I was too naive before. A child isnโt a one-person affair. If the child is born, I may never be free of Nathan,โ she said.
At that moment, Yvetteโs phone rang.
